It makes it harder to browse the site in many ways. The more you scroll the more things slow down. If you see something and want to go back I hope you remember where exactly it was on the page because it make take a bit of scrolling to find it again. There are no benefits to it or at least I've never seen anybody attempt to justify why it used.  Why not include an option to turn it off? For artist galleries are sorted by pages but if you want to browse a category your only choice it to use infinite scrolling?
