Congratulations on winning the New Year’s Resolution contest, RiskyBomber. You’ve given us a taste of motivation by thirst. Tell us about the inspiration for your piece.

Thank you very much! I’m humbled to have won a Slushe contest, given the amazing artists on this site, I never thought I’d have a chance.

I knew I wanted to do something around working out. It kind of just went from there... who doesn’t want a nude selfie from a beautiful, fit woman?

We commonly hear that New Year’s resolutions fizzle out pretty quickly. Do you feel this would help sustain motivation for a resolution?

I hope it would help someone with keeping up with their resolutions... but I doubt it, haha!

How long have you been making 3DX art? How did you get started?

I’ve been into 3DX viewing since my mid-twenties I guess.  One day I said, “fuck it, I’ll give it a try”.  That was about 4 or 5 years ago... all I know is I bought a bunch of Gen 3 characters and assets from Daz when I started, only to have Gen 8 come out 3 months later!  It was rough starting out... I’d never worked in any kind of 3D space before. There’s definitely a learning curve to it.  Makes you appreciate all the crazy talent and hard work in this community.

Describe your creative process. What tools do you use, and what do you draw inspiration from?

I think inspiration for me comes from everything I love. Sci-fi, fantasy, westerns, books, movies, comics, other artwork.  Sometimes a clear idea will pop into my head and it will all come together in a smooth flow.  Those are few and far between though. Mostly it’s tweaking a scene over and over again until something clicks, or it doesn’t.  In terms of process, it’s mostly first character, followed by the environment, then lighting, all done in Daz3d. Then it’s off to GIMP for some minor fixes and lighting tweaks

Do you listen to music or watch something in the background while you create? If so, what do you enjoy most?

I don’t have anything going on in the background, it seems to interrupt my workflow.  Plus, I work on my art either very early in the morning, or very late at night. Don’t want to wake anyone up!

What is your favorite fantasy that you can only show through your art?

For sure it’s sex with non-human females. Aliens, elves, vampires, demons, angels, etc.  Something about a purple alien woman really gets my blood pumping.

Is Captain Kirk an inspiration then???? ? What is it about purple aliens that makes them especially compelling?

For sure he is, same with Star Lord! They don’t have to be purple... blue, green, red.  I think it’s just the fact that they are different, unobtainable.  Unless someone is willing to get the body paint out.

Do you have any advice for artists and writers; generally, and specific to 3DX?

The only advice I have for new 3DX artists is to not give up.  Like I said before, the beginning is rough. Learn how to work with surfaces as soon as you can. Try simple scenes first to learn lighting and composition. Mind the details. And above all else, have fun! For all you writers out there, I got nothing for you, I’m a shit writer.

What themes do you want to explore in the future?

Huuummm... that’s a tough one. I don’t know about themes per say.  I kind of just do whatever I want at the moment. I would like to do a starship comic series. Something akin to Mass Effect, but my own races and characters with rad backstories. It’s been on the back burner for a while now. Might need to start working on it again.

Anything else you would like to say to your fans?

Thank you for all the support, everyone! It means a lot that people enjoy my art. And thank you to all the Devs and Admins who make Slushe possible! This is truly an awesome platform for aspiring and accomplished artists.
