Devils are warlike.  It’s in their very nature.  Where it began, no one really knows.  It is assumed that Lucifer began the training as part of His hatred of Jehovah and the plan to some day retake Heaven and rebuild it in His image, slaughtering Jehovah's favorite mortals in the process.  Thus a vast army of evil had to be created.  Whether that old legend is true or not is conjecture at best.  What is known, is that once the Blood War began, the unending conflict between Hell and the Abyss, Hell managed to constantly repel the invasion of demonic hordes numbering in the billions.  It was not until the War in Hell and the overthrow of Asmodeus and His Hellish Conclave, that other ideas began to seep into the diabolic mindset.  But always, there was the discipline of steel.

Even the sex starved and seductive Allura were not immune to the drive to be warriors.  Given their unnatural toughness and strength, they were easily the match of most Baatezar, and could take down most lesser devils with their bare hands.  But their lot in existence was to be sex toys for the greater devils and the seductresses that dragged mortal souls to Hell for their lusts.  Few ever managed to break free of that stereotype.  It is Hell after all, and Hell runs on strict adherence to the rules.  Then Queen Aura and The Nine came along and burned all the rule books, and wrote new ones.  The Allura, like all the other devils were free to pick their own paths,… within limits, of course.

Lithia, Grand General of the Herm Armies, had an interest in any Allura who could serve Herm as a special guard within Herm inner circle.  S/he had a particular desire for any and all with poisonous abilities and poisonous souls.  Naturally, many who had been tormented and misused by the previous rulers were the first to volunteer.  However, few had the real drive Lithia was looking for.  The devil called Methomyl was exactly right.  Her desire, her rage, her hatred, exceeded all the other candidates.  And her willingness to worship at the feet of Lithia (not to mention worship Herm cock) was beyond Lithia's darkest dreams of Godhood.  So, with aid from Cumariel and Queen Aura, Lithia made Methomyl the first of the New Hell's WarWitches, skilled in priestly matters, arcane spells, and the arts of war.
