Experiences selling on Gumroad, DLSite, etc.?

I know a lot of the topics around here are regarding specific things people are trying to achieve with renders and such. But I wanted to throw a different question out there.

So far I've been using Pixiv Fanbox, Patreon, and Premium Galleries on DeviantArt. Fanbox and Patreon have gotten no where. Premium Galleries have gotten a little bit of action. But man is the set up and uploading experience on DA absolutely God awful. I've purchased sets from other artists via both Gumroad and DLSite and the experience for both is pretty painless. Plus I've seen both Japanese and US artists on both platforms so if I had to guess language barrier is not an issue. Also DLSite will do English to Japanese translation for you, at least as far as product pages go. With DLSite being a Japanese company I know certain things will have to be censored. That's not a big concern to me since I'm not one of those who will go  IF I CAN'T SEE EVERYTHING THE FANTASY IS RUINED. Given that so far a good chunk of my overall viewership is Japanese I'd be doing myself a disservice to NOT consider using it.

I'm still doing some research on both of these. So if there's anyone here selling on either platform I'm curious to know what your experience has been like. There's a number of pieces I like about both (discovery and analytics). But I was pretty sure there could be potentially more to them. Which is why I bring this question here.

This is extremely late but hope this helps. According to yo_tatsunami this is what she said:

Quote:

"On the DL sales site, you can set your own discount campaign for the

works you registered. When I tried all my works at a discount of 9 for a

week, they sold so much that the eyeballs popped out. I think it was

more than 3000 on average. As a result, my income has risen to hundreds

of thousands of yen."

Additionally, quote:

"The DL sales site usually displays the number of works sold, and

depending on the number, you may think, "Oh, is it good if it sells to

this extent?" I think it is very beneficial to increase the number of

sales by temporarily increasing the sales and by making a big discount

in the sense of the promotion after that. Please give it a try."

And btw this is a it's 90% off.

On FANZA's digital doujin sales page, there's a list called "New Arrivals: Big Discounts".

This seems to be the way to go if nothing else as I already was making stages/plans to do so. But like with anything it takes time. but she is able to live off her own sales income from doujins at least in Japan. US/Can tends to be anti-non normie job specific but that reality is changing/has been changed since last I checked.

Case in point: my objective is to give out a 3d art book of all the stuff I designed in DAZ a digital one and one with hard copies. Combined I believe it is possible to do so with stories as well. Now that's a start.
