1039 Naked Adventure

Jim spits. “Ever feel like you are getting fucked and getting nothing for it?”

Sarah nods. “Every time I go on Twitter.”

“I am not going to be a whore of some goddamn managerial circle jerk system,” he says. “We came out here to do a fucking job and we are getting jerked around every two fucking steps we take forward we take three back. Laura and company are probably laughing their asses off at us.”

“This is how Wall Street works,” Sarah says. “It is a machine. It does not care about how one person feels. And if it can co-opt or buy an entire movement it does to further its own profits. This is how social justice became Wall Street’s Religion Incorporated. Every grassroots movement has been bought and paid for, and everyone falls in line for a house and cushy life.”

“It is as bad as a goddamn 1980’s televangelism at this point,” Jim says. “I swear to God if I have to sit through another diversity training seminar where they have the employees blaming each other and ignore the injustice upper management did to create the system of inequality in the first place I am going to vomit.”

“Oh God tell me about it!” Sarah says. “Corporate Diversity means deflecting, covering up, and distracting from the real issues of inequality. I didn’t hear anything about equity in that last one, you know, paying real money to the people they wronged by their corporate systematic racism? It is like they want to create the problem, control the narrative, and then shape it to cover their asses.”

“Jesus fucking Christ,” Jim spits, “how did social justice get corrupted by Wall Street?”

“Money,” they both say together.

“This fucking sucks,” Sarah says.

Jim laughs. “What? The working for Wall Street guilt thing?”

“No,” Sarah shakes her head, “us agreeing on something.”

Jim nods. “That does fucking suck. I like fighting with you.”

Sarah nods. “Fighting with you is better than having thousands of Twitter followers who all say the same thing. If I start agreeing with you though I will be ostracized and crucified by my own side.”

“For what? Can’t we at least both agree we are being fucked by the same assholes?” Jim laughs. “Can’t we speak the truth to power?”

They both stayed quiet as they walked further.

They both knew the answer to that without saying another word.
