30-Minute Design Exercise #39
I've been doing 30 minute design exercises for nearly a year - about one per week, but the interval varies a bit. I've oscillated between using Genesis 8 and 8.1 Female. The exercise is to design a character starting with the base wireframe, set up a basic render, and execute the render, in 30 minutes or less from when the wireframe loads until the render is complete. Given the time constraint, these obviously have tilted toward portraits, with a lot of HDRI involved. It's been an instructive process; my workflow is dramatically faster and more efficient now, and I've picked up a lot of brute force tricks around lighting, render settings, and other bobs and bits.
This is actually the second render, after a quick adjustment to pose and camera settings. In addition to being my 39th crack at this exercise, this one ended up taking... 39 minutes and a few seconds. Seriously. :D
