Easy Mode (Lexi/Lana, Luna/Laura)

"Hey girls," Laura says, "dig in, there are all sorts of cool things in here."

"Easy mode," Luna says, "I swear I wasn't taking some routes because they would have torn me up, so I took the tourist way up. This makes the rest of the climb almost too simple."

"Everything but clothes," Laura says, "but you know, Ren isn't perfect. Maybe we can go shopping when things get back to normal. I know someone fun we can go with."

"Hey," Lana says, "Lexi, you okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine," Lexi says. "Just, I don't know. You know? Like there's nothing left in the world but people hating on each other. I get sick of it. I get to the point where I feel I've taken too many lives. Removed too much happiness from the world."

"You got a long-long way to go before you can say that Lexi," Luna says with a slight laugh. "A couple hundred is nothing when you get up in the multiples of thousands. There are times I have to be careful not to kill someone just because I am so used to it. Oh! Gloves, these are mine!"

"I remember the days you could adventure and not have to kill anyone," Laura says. "Just put me in a tight pair of shorts and go. Getting there and seeing things was all the fun. I think I got all I need. The other pair of boots are yours Luna, and the girls can have the sneakers and the rest of the pads."

"Are you guilty about all the killing at all?" Lana says.

Luna says no at the same time Lexi says yes. Lexi feels she has to explain herself, stammers a couple words, and Luna stops her.

"Don't," Luna says, "don't go there Lexi. The universe hates us, some malevolent force has turned our lives into a barbaric reflection of a normal life, and we have to tell ourselves there is a higher purpose to this all. Perhaps there shall come a day when we shall be called upon to fight a very important battle, or make a difference in someone's life. In my case it was the latter. I realized I went through all of this death and killing in order to understand it and be able to help you. You still have a purpose to find Lexi."

"Hey!" Laura says, "maybe we can go out together, as moms and daughters, and go explore something for fun. No guns. No hand grenades. No portable rocket launchers. Just some really short-shorts and we write up what we find. Do some real historical science."

"And where do you propose we go?" Luna says. "Every historical world heritage site is owned by a corrupt NGO cabal that finances itself through illegal artifact sales to the world elite. I should know, they all hate me."

"Ren has powers," Laura says. "I am sure he could find something. And with him and who he knows, where we go doesn't necessarily need to be on this world."
