Fucking in Austria

May 11, 2020

Our resolute Legion of the Intrepid for the fight for justice determines a new case that a complete village in Austria was banned on a specific website. To get to the bottom of the trail for this heinous act, the team looks at a documentary-movie about this village. Unfortunately, they found no reason for this terrible act. Do you have an idea?

Fucking [fʊkɪŋ] is a district in the district of Braunau am Inn in Upper Austria. The place name Fucking is occupied since 1070 and can probably be derived from Adalpert von Vucckingen, who lived in the 11th century in that region. Due to the frequent use of this word in the English language and the strong influence of the same in continental Europe, the word is also well-known in German-speaking countries. Due to frequent reporting the awareness of the place increased so much that in particular English-speaking tourists arrive by bus to the village to be photographed in front of the signs, which are also stolen sometimes. In August 2005, therefore, the eight place signs at the four entrances were secured by cast-in, welding and riveting against theft.
