Genie Chronicles 03: Small Mercies

OK, there's a reason why this is so late in coming. That's because it's nearly double the length of issue 02! Clocking in at 40 pages plus covers, this thing was an absolute bear to complete. It wasn't until about page 36 did I learn about Optix acceleration and AI denoising, which would have made the whole thing a lot easier. However, I'm glad it turned out.

My goal for this issue was to keep the whole thing grounded in a domestic scene and keep the scope small. Gwen is not doing well and looking for a family, so Quentin and the girls give her one. Told mostly from Gwen's point of view, a lot of Katy's magic isn't obvious to her until she's in the thick of it. And when you're subject to a sex genie's magic and Quentin's powerful aphrodisiac, well, you don't much care. Yes, he can bend steel with his bare hands, but sometimes you gotta have a soft touch. Overall, it's a very mushy issue, which was nice.

One thing I found out was that writing dialogue to sound like Rogue from the 80s X-Men cartoon is harder than it seems. Also, there are a couple easter eggs I threw in just for funsies. Let me know if you find them. Thanks for reading!
