Slushe is Officially Open!

Jan 16, 2019

Hello and welcome to Slushe! We know some of you have been here for a while, but now that the site is officially open to the public we wanted to welcome all the new artists and users who’ve recently joined us. We hope you’re enjoying the site as much as we've enjoy having you here. We're seriously impressed by the quality of artwork that everyone has been uploading, and it's really motivating us to keep delivering more updates to make Slushe even better for you.

As always, thank you for enduring any bugs or oddities you’ve noticed while using the site during the public beta. If you have the time, please report any issues you encounter and feel free to send us any suggestions you have to improve the site.

Anywho, with that all said, today we have a few community topics to discuss. Hopefulyl this will get things feeling more like… Well, a community. First up, badges!

“Badges? We ain’t got no badges!”

But we will! Our dev team has ensured us it won’t take much effort to implement a badge feature, so we’ve decided to move forward with it. This upcoming profile accoutrement is a fun way to reward users for their contributions to the Slushe community. This feature is essentially an achievement system (if you’re familiar with that gaming terminology) for those of you who like to collect bragging rights and show them off. Since you’re all Slushe early adopters (Slushe Hipsters? Slushters?) you’ll be receiving founder badges, and possibly a few others, depending on what you’ve been up to on the site.

Below is an early draft of a badge and possible placement within your user profile. We may opt to put the badges on their on seperate tab, however, for better spacing and presentation. Our hope is that the final version is appropriately shiny and desirable so even the most jaded users might take an interest. Let us know what you think, and if there’s any badges you think need to be made. Additionally, if you're a graphic artist that can create awesome badges like what we're after, drop us a line on the contact page with a link to your portfolio and we'll talk =)

Safe for Work Category

If you uploaded any content over the past few days, you may have noticed the new Safe for Work category. We’re giving this category a trial run to see if it results in a good supply of safe for work-ish (stress on the -ish) images. Why would a site designed to host adult content be looking for SFW-ish content? Because in order to grow Slushe, we need to draw in new users, which means promoting the site around the web. Some sites, like Facebook and Instagram, don't allow any nudity whatsoever, even if they don't mind a scantily clad lady. If you use the "Safe for Work" category when uploading sexy-but-clothed images, we may pick your art for promotional purposes and feature it (with your permission) on our ads or social media posts.

While on that point, if you haven’t already, please consider sharing your profile with friends, fans, and fellow artists, as this is one of the fastests ways to introduce more users to the site. We want to help you get more eyes on your artwork, so we hope everyone will pitch in a little to build up the user base. Every little bit helps!

Just a Reminder of Our Goals

Before we sign off, we just wanted to remind you that the goal of Slushe is to offer a space for artists to freely share adult artworks with as few restrictions as possible. Over the years, we’ve seen far too many platforms restrict or boot adult content off their websites and decided to create Slushe as a remedy. We can't host everything, but we're going to try and host almost everything so no adult artist is left without a home.

Another goal of Slushe is to be sex positive and welcoming to everyone. Slushe was founded by artists in the 3DX community, and we have a slant toward original futanari content, but that doesn't mean that's the only art that can be shared here! We know that prior to the adult content purge, Tumblr was home to a number of adult communities which are not typically well represented in mainstream media. Although we cannot claim to fully understand the nature or breadth of those communities, we want to ensure they know they are welcome here even if the current content is not reflective of an alternative media platform. If you have suggestions on how to make Slushe more inclusive to your community in a way that does not infringe on the inclusivity of others, feel free to to leave a comment or send a message.

That's all for now! Be sure to keep an eye out for development updates, and if you haven't read about our Valentine's Day 3D Art Contest, be sure to check it out! If you like the image of Velna in today's Media Highlight, be sure follow Amusteven.
